Zone In Columbus is the city’s initiative to comprehensively update the zoning code for the first time in 70 years. We realize most Columbus residents don’t frequently interact with the code or realize its significance on our communities and neighborhoods. Zoning sets the framework for what businesses, types of housing, and amenities are able to be built across the city.
As the goal of this work is to make the code more equitable and accessible, the city would like to have input from as many residents as possible. The next Zone In event is a panel on June 27th moderated by Council President Hardin discussing how development happens (or doesn’t) in our neighborhoods. We believe this is an important conversation for the community, to lift the curtain on the development process and discuss how community members can be advocates for positive change in their neighborhoods.
