Join Gladden Community House and The Center for Family Resolution for parenting classes on Wednesdays from 1-3PM on the 3rd floor at Gladden (183 Hawkes Ave, 43223) until May 28th. No registration is required and you can pick which classes to attend.
March 26th & May 21st – Creating age-appropriate expectations: Children develop good habits when they are both nurtured and challenged. In this class, you will learn what to expect out of your child based on their age and phase of development. That way, you can create an environment for success and maximize your child’s potential at every stage.
April 2nd & May 28th – Connecting with your child through listening: Connecting with your child is the key to a healthy relationship. A good parent-child relationship leads to more cooperation and enjoyment. Through skillful listening, your child will know how much you care and are there for her. Listening creates more sharing and closeness that is comforting and encouraging for everyone. In this class, you will not only get to learn more about listening, but you will experience being heard as well.
April 9th – Positive Encouragement for Your Child: It may surprise you to know that sometimes praising your child can actually give a false sense of pride. This class focuses on the many ways you can encourage your child to feel good from the inside out!
April 16th – Rules and Responsibility for a high-functioning household: Rules serve to give structure to family life. But too many rules can make it hard for everyone to enjoy family life. When you finish this class, you will have a clear list of what rules you need in your home to function well. Join us to share ideas and create rules that work well for your family.
April 23rd – Rituals and Routines to keep children Safe and Secure: A sense of belonging is a child’s most important emotional need. Rituals and routines give child that sense of “home” that they keep in their heart forever. Come join in this class to learn about how rituals and routines can provide support for your child and make family life fun.
April 30th– Celebrate success every day: What is one thing you want to celebrate today? This class will help you discover many things that are working well in your everyday life. We will celebrate the small – and big – steps you have taken to make yourself and your family happier and healthier. Come join in the rewarding experience of paying attention to your accomplish.
May 7th – Bring out your personal BEST as a parent: Get ready to gain confidence and feel great about yourself for all that you are doing well. While no parent is perfect, this class will help you find new ways to shine! Everyone is different, and we will work together to find what is unique and especially amazing about you. We’ll include tips for you to model healthy relationships. Your children will thank you for being your best you.
May 14th – Bring out the BEST in your child: Most children are easier to get along with some days more than others. Come to this class and explore how you can motivate your child to succeed. We will learn how to replace labels with descriptions that give your child freedom to be at their best.
