The Columbus Jazz Orchestra has long been a cornerstone of the city’s jazz scene, celebrated for its dedication to preserving and evolving the big band tradition through engaging live performances and community connection. Under Byron Stripling’s leadership as artistic director and conductor, the ensemble has continued to expand its reach, blending timeless jazz repertoire with fresh interpretations that appeal to audiences of all ages. Stripling himself is known internationally for his expressive trumpet playing, charismatic stage presence and commitment to keeping jazz accessible and alive.

Enjoy free live music on select evenings this summer at the Scioto Mile Concert Series, presented by Columbus Recreation and Parks. Each show takes place at Bicentennial Park along the Scioto Mile, with performances starting at 7 p.m., plus food trucks and a bar will be available.
