***EMERGENCY BOARDING AVAILABLE FOR DOGS DURING EXTREME WEATHER***
In response to dangerously cold temperatures, the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center has opened emergency boarding for dogs owned by Franklin County residents who are seeking refuge at County warming centers. Offered at no cost, the temporary boarding ensures residents do not have to choose between their own safety and the safety of their pets during extreme weather. Dogs will be housed securely at the shelter while their owners access warming centers and critical resources, helping remove a common barrier to lifesaving shelter and reinforcing the County’s commitment to protecting both people and animals during severe winter conditions.
This service is effective immediately. Dog owners in need may contact the Dog Shelter’s Emergency Services line 24 hours a day at 614-525-3400, extension 1. Law enforcement and warming center staff are also encouraged to coordinate directly with the shelter.
